Mykola Tomenko: It is good of the President of the Country to promote Works of the Ukrainian Poets
Mykola Tomenko, Deputy Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, commented upon the placement of advertisements with the portrait of Viktor Yanukovych, President of Ukraine, and the title of the poem "Liubit Ukrainu" ("Love Ukraine"), one of the most famous patriotic poems of Ukraine, on the eve of the Independence Day.
Mykola Tomenko stated that "this advertisement will inspire a great many Ukrainians to make themselves familiar with the works of the prominent Ukrainian poet Volodymyr Sosiura who was born in Debaltseve town of Donetsk region, and reread his poem written in 1944 which led to imputation of the poet in bourgeois nationalism."
The Deputy Chairman stated that "Viktor Yanukovych is obviously trying to participate in the promotion of Ukrainian literature." He reminded that during the election campaign, V.Yanukovych promoted the famous verse of Ivan Franko "Ne pora" ("This Is Not the Time"), quoting its lines "Let love be for Ukraine alone" during his visit to Ivano-Frankivsk.
M.Tomenko believes that other representatives of Ukrainian authorities and deputy corps, especially the Party of Regions members, should adopt this attitude to the Ukrainian literature. "Then the wish of Volodymyr Sosiura expressed in the poem "Love your Ukraine from your heart, and she and we will live forever"! would come true."
